The Performance
This fast-paced, high-energy adaptation of Romeo and Juliet places the audience at the heart of the action. With just three actors and minimal staging, the production strips the play back to its core, highlighting the urgency of the story and the emotional stakes faced by its young characters.
A bold, modern narrator guides the piece, using humour, reflection and direct audience involvement to challenge the idea of “true love” and pull viewers into the drama. Scenes shift rapidly in tone and tempo, blending sharp choreography, clear storytelling and rich character work to create a dynamic experience that speaks directly to young audiences.
This version of Romeo and Juliet is both accessible and uncompromising, offering a fresh take on Shakespeare’s tragedy that resonates with today’s students.
Post-Performance Workshop
A fully interactive and engaging workshop which not only reinforces the students’ retention of key quotations but which allows them to compare and contrast the human emotions and values driving the action of the play such as love, justice, honour and loyalty with the interventions of fate.
Space Requirements
Ideally a main school assembly hall, theatre or drama hall. We prefer not to perform in a school gym or sports hall owing to the potentially poor acoustics. We need at least 4m height clearance over the performance space. We need a performance space that is at least 8m x 3m with two power points available. We require access to the space 90 minutes before and 60 minutes after the performance to set up and take down the equipment. The production is designed to be performed in a traverse layout, with students seated on two sides of the performance space, though we can accommodate alternative layouts if necessary.

Myles Crossley | Romeo
A Graduate from The London School of Musical Theatre, Myles is an Actor Musician from Leeds and is an avid Singer Songwriter. He is also an ex-rock climbing coach and busker.
Thomas John-Harris | Narrator
Thomas is very excited to be back with Box Clever working on his second major tour in A Christmas Carol and Romeo & Juliet this year. Thomas made his professional debut last year with Box Clever Theatre playing MacDuff and many other characters in their tour of Macbeth. Thomas is an experienced Advanced Level BADC stage combatant in multiple weapon systems with TrueEdge fight company, also being a member of their national fight team. Thomas explores Acting with a fascination for movement practise to connect with texts and is passionate to make theatre accessible to all and share the enjoyment of live theatre with new audiences.
Thomas’s credits include : Macbeth tour (Box Clever Theatre), Animal Farm /1972: The Future of Sex /6 characters in Search of an Author (Rose Bruford College), King of the Woods, Self-written one man play (Artistic Residency at ESMAE, Porto, Portugal), Movement Artist, (Lemonsuckr Music Video, Instant Kinks, FASTEN8)
Georgia Jackson | Juliet
Georgia has had a varied career across film and theatre. Highlights include: playing Joanna in the national tour of Do You Believe in Ghosts?, with performances on the West End, and playing Stick Lady Love in Stickman! at Leeds Playhouse and Victoria Palace Theatre in Singapore.
She has also appeared in the Ramps on the Moon production of Oliver Twist, which is available to watch on National Theatre at Home. Georgia’s acting career has been full of fun and silliness, she’s played a dog, a horse, a swan, and a stick, she learnt to fly as Wendy in Peter Pan.

Harriett O’Grady | Assistant Director
Harriett O'Grady is a a multi-disciplinary creative, with her work spanning many artistic forms.
Having trained predominantly as an Actor on Rose Bruford's prestigious BA(Hons) Acting course, she has branched into several creative disciplines, now working as a director, facilitator, movement director, singer, writer, dramaturg, games designer and creative problem-solver.
As a director/movement director/dramaturg, her work spans from new writing to classical Shakespeare to political/reform theatre. She recently directed and produced her first independent piece of theatre, NAVARRE!, for Camden Fringe, and will be directing for Dublin Fringe this September.
Yumu Lin | Costume Designer
YUMU LIN (MOON) is a London-based Costume Designer and is delighted to be returning to Box Clever as Costume Designer for a second season.
Moon holds an MA in Design for Performance from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, where he graduated in 2025, and previously studied Fashion Design at Zhejiang Sci-Tech University. His work spans theatre, opera, musicals, film and television, with experience as a Costume Designer, Supervisor, Maker and Dresser.
His recent work includes costume design for productions such as A Christmas Carol, Romeo & Juliet, Macbeth and The Hate Play, as well as the musicals AI: Save Our Souls and Mirror. His professional experience also includes work with organisations and productions including the Royal Opera House, Shakespeare’s Globe, the Royal Shakespeare Company, BBC and Bad Wolf. Before moving into performance, Moonworked in Shanghai as an Assistant Fashion Designer with Feng Chen Wang, contributing to research, development and ready-to-wear design.
He is passionate about creating imaginative, character-driven costume designs and is excited to continue his collaboration with Box Clever.
Izzy Marritt | Assistant Costume Designer
Izzys is studying Costume with Textiles in Huddersfield and loves all things embroidery, creating texture and the design experimentation process. She is excited to join the Box Clever Team on her placement year as Assistant Costume Designer, and gain insight into the industry.
